Laurel Simons

Upon retirement of 35 years as a public  elementary/middle school teacher, I had the amazing opportunity to become a Basic Archery Instructor for Centershot Ministry.  After conducting different classes at church, I became certified as a trainer and eventually as a specialist with my husband Dan, who is the National Trainer Director for Centershot.

Together we conducted family leagues and couples leagues at our Green Bay church.  I also have a women’s league that has a core group of coaches that have been together for five years.  They have been instrumental in continuing our weekly shoot.

Archery is one part of each league evening while a faith component is the second part.  Depending on our group we have used many types of studies, videos, and Centershot resources.  Talking about Jesus is one of my favorite things to do!

Craig Ormsby

Craig grew up in Conyers, Georgia, and attended Auburn University, where he earned a degree in civil engineering. Upon graduation, he moved to Atlanta to begin his career in the construction industry.

In 1992, he married Amelia and shares that “God miraculously moved them to Woodstock, Georgia.”  Immediately upon arriving in Woodstock, they were invited to attend church at First Baptist Woodstock.  Craig was given a visitor form to fill out in a Sunday School class on that first visit, and there was a question with three possible answers: “If you died tonight, do you know that you will go to heaven? hope that you will go to heaven, or know that you will not go to heaven.”  Craig checked the box: “I know I will not go to heaven.”  That Sunday School class began to pray for, visit, and share with Craig, and a few months later, Craig gave his life to Jesus.

Immediately, he began to serve in the church, and 4 years later, he was asked to come on staff and serve by overseeing the church properties and facilities as well as all service ministries.

Craig served in that capacity for 25 years and, in 2020, was asked to become the Mission Pastor.   He is responsible for leading the people of Woodstock to engage in what God is doing in their church, community, and worldwide.  Craig and Amelia have 4 children and 2 grandsons.
